Pear Body Characteristics
Most women that are considered to have a “Pear Silhouette” have a smaller top and a curvier bottom. Don’t get it wrong ladies! Just because you were blessed with a J.Lo bottom, does not make you fat. A lot of women that are pear shaped also have fairly flat stomachs. Pear shaped bodies should wear clothes that minimize the bottom half and draw attention to the upper part of the body with bright bold tops or tops with large collars or sleeves.
The Upper Half
Blouses and tops with beautiful patterns and textures draw attention up to your upper body up to your beautiful face
Do: 1)Choose an off the shoulder top, cowl or square neckline. 2)Have fun with color. 3)Consider a puff, kimono or bell sleeves.
Don’t: 1)Wear a baggy top. Make sure it is flattering and fitted to show off that waist. 2)Avoid small or dainty collars that will make you appear larger than you actually are
The Lower Half
The golden rule is to reduce the emphasis on your hips, thighs and butt area.
Do: 1)Keep pocket designs to a minimum or not at all. 2)Stick to darker colors such as darker blues, dark gray’s, and black. 3)Consider Mid rise styles instead of low-rise. 4)Wearing higher heels gives you an appearance of longer legs and take attention away from your hips
Don’t: 1)Wear leggings or skinny jeans unless paired back with a tunic. 2)Choose pants with bulky side pockets, side button details or back pockets. These will create the appearance of a large bottom. 3)Avoid light or “washed” looking bottoms. Darker denim always has the sliming effect
The Perfect Dress
The easiest way to balance a bottom-heavy figure is to choose a dress that skims over the lower half of the body.
Do: 1) Look for A-Line or wrap dress, which are often the best cut for “Pear” shaped women. 2)Emphasize your bust with a lower neckline . 3)Consider trying a halter dress that will show of your waist, if you don’t feel comfortable wearing a strapless dress
Don’t: Wear tight stretchy dresses unless you would really like to emphasize your behind. Its just that simple!
